The angel knows all, shows all, but will not do that while you are looking.

SERAPHIM is a collaborative piece devised by the artist Manaal Asim and supported by Loy. It is a conceptual artwork about biblically accurate angels who dwell in the BTS of the internet. The work was developed on Blender (Manaal) and TouchDesigner (Loy).
The piece explores the idea of 'wormholing'. The idea of the internet as a teleporter, where users can travel at warp speed. That is instead of doomscrolling, where users are fed linear information in algorithmic feeds.
We spent some time exploring and developing this concept. The seraphim became a being who could absorb and understand code faster than any human. Not bound by a body, but running fluidly inside the network- switching between realities and programs.
As humans we process small chunks of information at a time - especially online. It would be too much to take it all in at once. It wouldn't make sense to our human brains. Social media may feel like a bombardment of energy, but it is also gives us bite-sized pieces of media, one by one.
The idea of personifying living entities who can process whole rooms filled with code in a split second. How do humans see them? How do they interact? Where do they hang out?
The eeriest thing: Seraphim behaved REALLY weirdly when I uploaded them into realtime engines. Like, they were everywhere and nowhere all at once. It's hard to explain.
